The All Progressives Congress has won all the seats in the local government election held in Yobe State on Saturday.
The ruling party in the state, according to the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission, won the 17 local chairmen seats and all 178 ward councilorship positions.
Announcing the result of the elections on Sunday in Damaturu, the state capital, the Executive Secretary of Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission, Dr. Mamman Mohammed, disclosed that it was only the APC that fielded candidates for all the positions in both the chairmanship and councilorship levels, with six other parties picking positions to contest for.
He lamented that in the chairmanship elections, there was no opposition or candidates from other political parties contesting in the polls.
“It’s only the APC that fielded candidates for the chairmanship and councillors. The electorate cast their votes for the party,” he added.
