The immediate past permanent secretary, State Universal Basic Education Board, Alhaji Abdul-Fatai Kolawole has urged Nigerians to imbibe religious tolerance in their daily lives, which he said would reduce the growing tension in the country and guarantee sustainable peace in Nigeria.
Kolawole gave the charge yesterday in Modakeke, area of Osun State, shortly after being turbaned as the Asiwaju Muslim of Modakekeland and environs held at Modakeke Islamic Grammar School, Modakeke.
Kolawole recalled that all mankind are descendants of Adam and Eve, hence the current religious discrimination is needless.
Stressing the importance of religious tolerance, the top education echelon said, “it is indisputable fact that all mankind are descendants of Adam and Eve, the cardinal rule enriched in the holy books is that love for others what we wish for ourselves. God-fearing citizens will not indulge in negative vices”

The Atorise Eto Eko of Osogboland thanked the Modakeke Muslim Umar under the leadership of Chief Imam of Modakekeland and environs, Sheik (Dr.) Idris Usamot Alani Animasaun and the Muslim community-led by, Alhaji Wahab Odeyinka Durodolu for considering him for the important title.
Kolawole said he was wary when the notice of the award came but took solace in the Almighty Allah who eases the affairs of men.
“Upon official notice by the leadership of the Modakeke Muslim community of the desire to bestow the title on me, at first, I wary considering the enormous responsibility it requires but took solace in the Mighty of Allah who makes life easy for whoever it pleases Him to bless and I testify that Allah has always been easing our affairs and shall continue to assist all the time including on this new responsibility”
Kolawole congratulated other titleholders and commended those saddled with the responsibilities of putting the extraordinary personalities together.
He expressed readiness to work in unison with others for not only the propagation and development of Islam alone but the entire society.
The Oluomo of Modakekeland charged Muslims to embrace quality and complete education just as he stressed that this will be beneficial not only to themselves but also to the society at large.
He asserted that Islam is the origin of science, technology, and innovation upon which the civilisation and liberation of the western world were built.
“It is pleasing that Arab countries across the world are leveraging the fact to better the lots of their citizens and attract valuable foreigners to their countries which has substantially increased their direct foreign investments. This is the noble example that we must all follow in our family, groups, and societies. This way, we will be able to contribute positively well in the propagation and development of Islam, he concluded.
Other eminent personalities who were honoured were Justice Sikiru Oke, Otun Aare Musulumi, Alhaji Abdulazeez Omidiran, Baba Adeen, Alhaji Tijani Odeyeyiwa, Areh Musulumi, Alhaji Moshood Olagoke, Majekobaje Adeen among others.
The event was graced by highly influential individuals from all walks of life.
