The ruling All Progressives Congress in Osun state has described the conferment of the governor of the year award on Gboyega Oyetola as proof of the governor’s sterling performance in many critical sectors of the economy of the state since assumption of office over two years ago.
The commendation was contained in a press release personally signed by the spokesman of the party, Comrade Wole Adunola, which was made available to AFFAIRS TV in Osogbo, the state capital on Friday.
The party commended the renowned national daily, Business Day Newspaper, for considering Osun governor for such an important award having done an in-depth assessment of the activities, programmes, and policies including the impacts of the thirty-six states governors of the federation.
The statement reads” As a party, we want to congratulate our leader and peoples governor, Gboyega Oyetola for being a worth ambassador and for demonstrating that our party is indeed up to the task by building on yesteryears successes while also opening another new chapter in the history of Osun polity”
“Since inception, he has continued to demonstrate capacity, charisma, and forthrightness by doing the appropriate at the right time, Oyetola through the needs assessment report, gave public participatory, a chance, thereby putting peoples first, no wonders there are positive turnaround in every sector of our economy being gladly accepted by the locale because it is their making”
“As a party, it is our belief many laurels are coming on the way of Governor Gboyega Oyetola because he has worked for it and this Business Day Newspaper award is a reward for excellence and motivation to work harder and continue to leave positive imprints”

The award night which was held yesterday night in Abuja at Transcorp Hotel, Abuja, was the eighth edition of the award created to ensure leaders at the sub-national levels of governance imbibe the culture of hard work and deliver the dividends of democracy to its citizens.
The governors of the 36 states of the federation were reported to have competed in various categories in which an Award Committee, made up of eminent personalities, gathered primary data through on-the-spot assessments, interactions with the locals, and the analysis of secondary data provided on different socio-economic parameters as published by the nation’s data agency, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
Governor Oyetola was said to have clinched the overall best governor of the year, distinguished himself as a quintessential administrator, an astute manager of men and resources, a silent achiever, an iconic leader with a large heart for the people and service, and a trailblazer who believes that a leader is as good as his last accomplishment.
