HOW I WAS BRUTALIZED TODAY
This morning I set out for my office from Okinni axis moving towards Osogbo and a police officer asked me to stop at 10:49am which I did. None of the was on uniform, so it’s difficult to identify.
One asked me to open my boot but before I even opened my boot and door, the man had opened the door and pulled me out of the car. He ransacked my vehicle from the driver side to the back seat and to the front seat again.
On getting to the front seat, he took the phone my Trainee who was with me, and took my laptop bag. At that point I challenged him and another officer came down to me, requesting for my identity card after I introduced myself.
At this point the other officer said I was too arrogant for dare talking to him. This led to argument between us and a team of about fifteen officers descended on my and slapped me.
I was dragged like a common criminal into a (mini-bus) Korope with registration number SGB-385 YS where I met eight other people attested for only-God-knows offence. Let me state here that the my phone and car were seized and I was put incommunicado for about two hours.
While on bus to an officer made the following statements:
- It shall not be well with you and your entire family
- I’ll deal with you today, go and ask your senior Journalists. I have dealt with with them.
- I’m from Ogun state, I’ll tell you I’m fortified with every power, you may not last beyond tomorrow.
On getting to the station, an official who identified himself as Taye joined us but they only continue to threatened me. I was threatened to the point that one said “I can put pistol in your boot and you’ll continue to face the case. Thank God you’re young”.
However, let me state that a senior officer pleaded with me before I left but I told him Justice is what I demanded, that everyone involved must face the consequences of his action.
