State of Osun Commissioner for Education Lauds UNIOSUN VC for His Zero Tolerance to Corruption

The Honourable Commissioner for Education in the state of Osun, Honourable Samuel Bamisayemi Oladoyin has commended the Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, Professor Labode Popoola for his zero-tolerance to corruption.

The Commissioner made this statement when he paid a courtesy visit to the University on Thursday 28 May, 2020.

The Vice-Chancellor, professor Labode Popoola and the management team received the Honourable commissioner’s team that comprised the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Honourable Jamiu Babatunde Olawumi; the permanent secretary in the ministry of Education, Mr Sunday Festus Olajide and other Directors in the ministry.

Professor Labode Popoola made a presentation on the state of the University, the achievements, supports from the University Council, government, staff and students and how the University has been sustaining its numerous developmental activities through prudent management of its meagre resources.

Honourable Oladoyin while reacting to the Vice-Chancellor’s presentation described the visit to the University as a unique one that was meant to encourage the Vice-Chancellor and his team to continue the good work its been doing.

“We specially thank the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Labode Popoola for not putting us to shame. As you may be aware, I led the team that investigated the previous administration of this University and sent a report/recommendation that led to their dissolution. I am happy that you are doing an excellent job in this University.
This university is gradually becoming a model in Nigeria, and we are indeed very proud of this. We can boldly say that we did not make a mistake in your appointment and we pray to God to strengthen you to continue the good work.

“I also thank the Governing Council of this University led by Mallam Yusuf Ali, SAN for devoting their resources, time, and contacts to develop UNIOSUN to its current enviable status.”

“I hereby promise to contribute my own quota to the University too by supporting the best student in the College of Law of the University with a sum of fifty thousand naira every year,” Honourable Oladoyin added.”

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Honourable Jamiu Babatunde also lent his voice in commending the management of the University for doing more with very little. Honourable Jamiu referred to the Vice-Chancellor as a good manager as his attitude and body language with the support of the Governing Council are making the University to go higher and higher.

Honourable Jamiu Babatunde stated that with the efforts of the last three years, UNIOSUN is now on autopilot, and other institutions will have to emulate the institution.

The Special Adviser who retired as a business editor promised to contribute his own quota to the success of the University by supporting the best student in financial reporting/journalism with the sum of twenty thousand naira annually.
The University Registrar, Alhaji Gafar Shittu thanked the team led by the Honourable Commissioner for the visit and prayed to God for journey mercies to their destination.
