NDDC: Ijaw Youth Group Calls on Ex-Militant Leaders to Call on Petition Writers to Stop

An Ijaw Youth Group, Ijaw Youths Must Move Forward has called on Ex-Millitant leaders to call on people writing petition against the Niger Delta Development Commission to stop.

In a press briefing at Asaba Delta State, Nigeria. The President of the group Comrade Navy T. Stephen made reference to a publication that is currently trending on the social Media space title “NDDC: Ex-militant leaders cry out over delayed contracts payments, bank forfeiture threats.”

“I must confess that I am very, very surprise at the call on the Niger Delta Development Commission’s (NDDC) Interim Management Committee (IMC) by the Ex-militant leaders across the Nine (9) states of the Niger Delta “99% of First Phase leaders under the PAP & Leadership of Peace and Cultural Development Initiative (LPCDI)” for the delay in payment of contractors in the Niger Delta development commission from sometime 2019 to date.” He said

“The delay is a resultant of an action, something led to something. I can remember vividly President Muhammadu Buhari in august 2019 announced the constitution of the Interim Management Committee IMC of the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC and they were later inaugurated and mandated to supervise the conduct of a Forensic Audit Exercise spanning 2001 to 2019 with a scope of work as to finding out all kinds mismanagement, operational discrepancies, roguish transactions, corrupt disbursements, fraudulent contracts, criminal accounting and other such practices with a specific time frame. But as at this very moment, the Audit exercise is in work in progress and I sincerely believe that most of the projects in question fall on this period in view.” He added

“In line with Mr. President’s directive, if the IMC give in to the nostalgias/plights of contractors and make the outstanding contracts payments and at the end of the Audit exercise if any of the beneficiary companies are indicted, how will you reconcile their act, will the purpose of the exercise be achieved, will the aim of the exercise not defeated? Barr Joy Nunieh was removed as the Ag. Managing Director of the NDDC IMC simply because she paid some unverified contracts/projects with other allegations of misconducts and recklessness. Hope you are not trying to tell me you want history to be repeated? God forbid that history will be repeated in the NDDC for second time.”

The NDDC as an interventionist agency with the mandate of providing critical infrastructure and other physical development and give sense of justice to the restive citizens of the region has become nothing other than a cash dispensing machine to some who are privileged to run its affairs or have had access to its leadership.

This exercise wouldn’t have taken so long to be completed and optimal activities put on track in the commission but some of the leaders from the region who previously used the agency as conduit pipe in amassing wealth for their personal aggrandizement has vowed that the exercise as mandated by Mr. President will not see the light of the day, they have vowed to stop at nothing to make sure the Forensic Audit exercise is thwarted, they adopted several approaches to incapacitate the process of the Audit exercise and it now take us to where we are presently. When two (2) elephant’s fights they say, the grasses suffer.

My advice to the Ex-Militant Leaders, the leadership of the Peace and Cultural Development Initiative. (LPCDI) and every well-meaning Sons and Daughters of the Niger Delta that, they Appeal to the leaders of the Niger Delta region who are the brains behind the activities of obstructing the IMC for an hitch free exercise to stop their nefarious acts to enable them complete the exercise timely and return normalcy to the Commission and contractors who are cleared can have their payments.

My message to all the peddlers of falsehood and the mischief makers who has planted their foot at the NDDC that, the earlier they repent shall be better for us all as the days of reckoning is already at hand, enough is enough, you can’t continue to hold the Niger Delta region captive. All the damages you have caused the Niger Delta region and her people is enough and you shall all be exposed and the law must take it course.

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
God bless the Niger Delta Development Commission and
God bless the Ijaw Youths Must Move Forward IYMMF.
Comrade Navy T. Stephen.
