Graduating Students of Uniosun Nursing Science Department records 100% success in their professional examination

The graduating students of the Department of Nursing Science of Osun State University have made the University proud when the first set of students raised the bar by passing all the qualifying exams for professional registration at the first attempt, at the just concluded March 2020 Midwifery professional examination, which result was released recently.

This was contained in a statement released by the Public Relation Officer of the university, Mr Ademola Adesoji and made available to Affairs TV in Osogbo on Wednesday.

The Midwifery professional examination is a specialized examination for the assessment of eligible Nurses to provide care for women and families in maternal and child development. It is a national examination where all institutions that offer Nursing Science program must participate and passed before being referred to as a Registered Nurse and Midwife.

According to the results released by the Board of Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, 1,366 candidates were successful in the post basic midwives examination which represents 90% that passed and 1,326 candidates were successful in the basic midwifery examination which represents 90% that passed. Eleven candidates were successful in the midwives refreshers examination representing 32% that passed; 97 candidates were successful in the Community Midwives Examination which represents 84% that passed.

The results released and sent to the University by the Board of Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria states that all the Nursing Science students of Osun State University scored 100% in the midwifery professional examination that took place in March 2020. Three of the students had credit scores in their RN examinations while two students had credit scores in their RM examinations.

The Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Osun State University, Professor Christopher Olutayo Alebiosu, while reacting to the outstanding success of these students applauded the entire set, which recorded a 100% success rate.

“He remarked that this is the 1st professional examination that our nursing students will be participating in, and all of them made us proud. He attributed the enviable success of the students to the Management’s full support, exemplary leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, the commitment of academic and non-teaching staff of the College of Health Sciences, the impactful teaching, dedication of the students, peaceful environment and special grace of the Almighty God.

He gave kudos to all the previous HODs of the Department including Dr Adeleke N.A, Mr Adesina K.A. and the current HOD, Dr Adeyemo M.O.A. He, therefore, advised the newly registered nurses and midwives to remain focused and parade themselves as good Ambassadors of the University,” Professor Alebiosu added.
