Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday swore-in 13 appointees into the state civil service.
Three of the appointees are new cabinet members, five are the chairman and commissioners in the civil service commission while the remaining five are new permanent secretaries.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja with other cabinet members, body of permanent secretaries, friends and families of the appointees in attendance.
The three exco members and their portfolios are: Paul Bamgbose Martins, as commissioner for special duties and inter-governmental relations; Gbenga Olanrewaju Oyerinde, special adviser on central business district and Ganiyu Ayuba Adele as special adviser on urban development.
The chairman of the state civil service commission is Mrs. Regina Fabanwo, while the other commissioners in the commission are: Adesina Odeyemi, Hon. Avoseh Sure, Hon. Kamal Olorunoje and Babatunde Tiamiyu.
The permanent secretaries and their ministries are: Olujimi Ide, debt management office; Mrs. Kafayat Ajenifuja, parastatal monitoring office; Hakeem Adeniji, office of civic engagement; Isaac Thorpe, ministry of information and strategy and Dr. Aina Ayoola, primary health board.
Congratulating the appointees after the swearing-in, Governor Sanwo-Olu told them that it is a call to duty and that much is expected from them.
He told them that it was a privilege to have been identified and selected for the appointment among millions of qualified Lagosians, adding that Lagosians deserve the best from them and they must strive to add value in bringing the dividends of democracy to the people.
“You must be focussed on the goals of the administration and you must hit the ground running, we must accomplish our dreams, we can not afford not to succeed because Lagos is like a golden fish that has no hiding place.
“As a government we want to ensure that programs are time bound and people focused; we want to ensure we bring about innovative ideas in all areas of our state, we want innovation to be the way we are judged, the way we do things, I am sure you will not disappoint us.
“Lagos is always a center of excellence and we shall continue to be so by building new roads, bridges and infrastructure, each day we must continue to raise the bar and ask how far we have fared.
“There is a lot of work to do and I am sure you will not disappoint us and Lagosians, let us redouble our effort, reset the focus, so much is expected from us especially as we clock one year in office in few months time.
“I have resolved, I am committed and I am sure you are too, Greater Lagos is real and we will get there together”, Sanwo-Olu told them.
Giving the vote of assurance earlier, Martins who spoke onbehalf of other appointees thanked the governor for “bestowing this honor on us.
“It is a challenge to duty, therefore I give you the assurance of our commitment to duty, hardwork and dedication, we assure you of our loyalty, we promise not to disappoint you or the good people of Lagos state,” Martins assured the governor.
