It was another show of expectation turned down today as the candidates of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Action Democratic Party (ADP) and the Justice Must Prevail Party (JMPP) in Iwo, Ayedire and Ola Oluwa Federal Constituency all refused to show up for a debate organised by the Iwo Press Club.

Press Release by the club indicated that they all recieved letter but the candidate of the ADP replied that he will not be there for security reasons.

Four political parties were invited, only PDP showed up-Iwo Press Club

Amidst all the noise and rumours flying the air as to the federal House of representatives debate that was held today as organised by the Iwo Press Club.

It is important that we make it clear to the people of Iwo, Ayedire and Ola Oluwa federal constituency that the Iwo Press Club is not affliated or sponsored by any political party. The debate was organised as a plan for us to get a credible candidate represent us at the green chambers.

In the wake of this mission we identified and invited candidate of four political parties namely: ADP, APC, JMPP and PDP and sent letters to all of them which we are very sure that they all recieved.

However its unfortunate that at the debate today only the candidate of the PDP showed up. Other candidates decided to abscond from the debate for reasons best known to them.

The candidate of ADP sent a letter to us this morning stating security as the reason why he will not be attending the debate even after several assurance we made that adequate security will be provided.

We oblige that it is important that politicians begin to respond to call of the people. Debate is an avenue for anybody contesting for any political office to present their plans to the people they said they want to represent. And any politician that fails to show up in a debate is sending a message of “i have no plan for the people”

Iwo Press Club stand for objectivity, we stand for the progress of Iwoland and we will never desist from bringing up programs that will move Iwoland forward.
